School Uniform

Students not wearing the correct school uniform will be asked to loan the item from the school store; failure to do so will result in a period of isolation.

It is the policy of The Bolsover School to help students develop a sense of appropriateness of dress. Students will be expected to dress in a manner suitable to a place of study and high standards of personal appearance will be expected.

Standard Uniform

• Black Bolsover School logo trousers or black logo pleated skirt (Just Schoolwear or Logo Leisurewear).
• Black shoes (without logos or branding). Not trainers, boots or pumps.
• White shirt – with top button fastening.
• School house tie (available from Logo Leisurewear or Just Schoolwear at all times and from the school during term time only).
• Black blazer with school logo (must be purchased from Logo Leisurewear or Just Schoolwear).
• Optional V-neck black woollen jumper to be worn under the blazer (not in place of the blazer).  This can be purchased from any outlet or with the school logo from our suppliers if preferred. NB: no hoodies, crew necks, sweatshirts or other logos allowed.
• Black socks only.
• A suitable school bag/ruck sack MUST be brought to school every day.
• Students are required to bring a pencil case and appropriate equipment to be used in class.
• Hoodies, tracksuit tops or sports/fashion jumpers with logos are not allowed.

Uniform required for Physical Education

• Navy blue shorts.
• Navy blue long football socks (to be worn when shin pads are required) and navy or white sports socks for general sports activities.
• Short sleeved summer/indoor navy-blue polo shirt. The school preference is for this to be purchased from Logo Leisurewear or Just Schoolwear, with the school logo, however this is not compulsory. A plain navy-blue polo-shirt can be purchased from any outlet. The school logo is not compulsory.
• Training shoes for indoor use – no plimsolls.
• Optional long-sleeved winter/outdoor ¾ zip sport top with logo is available from Logo Leisurewear or Just Schoolwear or a similar navy or black garment can be purchased from other outlets.
• Plain navy or black sports leggings/track suit bottoms can be worn.
• A long-sleeved navy or black under garment can be worn under the navy-blue polo-shirt when outdoors or during colder months.

Uniform required for Expressive Arts

• Tracksuit bottoms/leggings in navy blue or black.
• Plain white T-Shirt.
• GCSE students do have the chance to purchase an optional GCSE sweatshirt via the school if they wish.

Headwear

• Baseball caps are not permitted to be worn in school or on the school premises. Sensible headwear may be worn in inclement weather, but must not be worn inside the school building.
• Headwear worn for religious reasons must be plain black.

Rules about piercings

For Health & Safety reasons, the school will only allow the following piercings to be worn:

• Sleeper and stud earrings are allowed.
• Jewellery can be a safety hazard, and it gets lost easily. Therefore, students may wear one discreet nose stud (nose rings are not permitted).
• All jewellery MUST be removed prior to PE and other practical lessons.
• We reserve the right to ask students to remove any jewellery that is deemed as inappropriate or excessive.

Rules about make-up/nails

• Make-up is not permitted, other than a light covering of foundation.
• Natural nails only (coloured nails are not permitted during practical food lessons), students wearing false nails will be asked to remove them.
• Hair colour and style must be appropriate for school. Unnaturally coloured or shaved/patterned hair is not appropriate nor acceptable.

Logo Leisurewear or Just Schoolwear can be contacted directly to order both the compulsory blazer and tie, and any optional items detailed. Orders can be placed by telephone or online.

Once an order has been placed with Logo Leisurewear or Just Schoolwear, delivery to school can be requested free of charge for collection, or orders can be delivered to a home address (please contact the supplier for current delivery charges). Please note; for orders being collected from school, some form of identification will be required (photographic i.e., driving licence/passport) before the order can be released.

Any parents who may be experiencing financial difficulties are able to contact our preferred suppliers directly to arrange payment terms.

Logo Leisurewear and Just Schoolwear aim to dispatch orders within 1 week. However, special size orders may take slightly longer as they may not be held in stock. Sample garments will be held in school for sizing purposes only.
