SHOW MY HOMEWORK SET-UP GUIDE
What is Show My Homework?
Show My Homework is an online tool for students, parents and guardians that shows all the homework and deadlines that teachers have set. Effective setting, monitoring and completion of homework has been shown in educational studies to vastly improve the progress of students (Durham University, 2012).
You can check what homework has been set by using the link provided, on the homepage to view our school’s live homework calendar and then use the filters to view the homework tasks.
How much homework should be done?
The Department for Education (DfE) guidelines for the amount of homework students should complete are:
- Year 7 - 40 minutes of homework per day or 3 hours 20 minutes per week.
- Year 8 - 60 minutes of homework per day or 5 hours per week.
- Years 9 to 11 - 10 x 1 hour homework sessions per week which equates to between 1.5 and 2.5 hours per night.
If any student is unable to access a computer or the internet, we are able to provide facilities in our homework club that runs after school from 3.00pm until 4.30pm Monday to Friday. For those students travelling by bus, we have a late bus facility to ensure safe transport home.
